FPYC Patriot Cup 2008
The 2008 Patriot Cup was not well attended by top level U-11 teams. All teams were NCSL Division 5 or lower. Due to this, FPYC requested that NCSL Division 2 Sterling Power Orange play in the U-12 division. The U-12 division contained the following teams:
- CYA United (U-12 NCSL Division 2)
- Reston Fury (U-12 ODSL Division 1)
- Great Falls 96 Milan (U-12 ODSL Division 2)
- FPYC Fusion (U-12 NCSL Division 4)
- Sterling Power Orange (U-11 NCSL Division 2)
- VSA Heat Gold 96B (U-12 ODSL Division 3)
Time to Play!!!
Game 1 - Power Orange played a big, tough Reston Fury team. The game went back and forth, but Power Orange was able to control the bulk of it. The game ended with a Power Orange 1-0 Victory.
Game 2 - Power Orange faced the far superior CYA United team. CYA United schooled Power Orange on how the older U-12 teams succeed and left Power Orange with a 5-0 defeat.
Game 3 - Power Orange faced the Great Falls 96 Milan team. Despite their size, Great Falls was not able to suppress the skills of this Power Orange team. Power Orange finished with a 3-1 victory.
Game 4 - Power Orange ended up tied for second place with FPYC Fusion in record but lost out on the tie-breaker rules. That put them in the 3rd place playoff with the Reston Fury. Reston Fury came into the game looking for revenge against the U-11 team that beat them earlier. Both teams played extremely tough leading to a 0-0 draw in regulation. Unfortunately, since this was not a battle for first place, the tournament rules did not allow the game to continue until a winner was crowned. Final Score 0-0.
CYA United continued their undefeated ways to finish first by knocking off FPYC Fusion 6-4. The battle for the basement ended with Great Falls Milan beating VSA Heat 2-1.
Sterling Power Orange Finished in Third Place (2-1-1)
